Geoffrey Beaumont (Geoff) is the Regional Director of TAL Global in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Geoff’s experience spans the region as well the Far East while he also is familiar with the Indian Subcontinent. He brings a wealth of experience beyond his regional responsibilities.
Previously, Geoff worked with a Hong Kong-based global security and risk management company. He opened and managed their Middle East North Africa (MENA) office and undertook a range of investigative work and security risk management projects in MENA. He moved to Hong Kong as Director of Global Operations where, in addition to his global responsibilities, he continued to manage MENA operations before relocating to Beijing where he established Olympic security programmes for a number of globally renowned companies.
Prior to joining the commercial sector, Geoff was noted as a security expert and for his experience in the MENA region, as well as for his wide international exposure in conflict areas. His career includes prestigious security roles with the World Bank in post war Iraq (2003) where, despite being seriously injured in the August 2003 bombing of the United Nations (UN) headquarters in Baghdad, he led recovery efforts and later established the security program for the World Bank’s Office in Jordan where he executed regional responsibilities. Prior to the 2003 Iraq War, Geoff was the Deputy Director of BOMVIC, the operational arm of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification, and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) in Iraq in the search for WMD.
Previously, Geoff served as a UN Civil Affairs Officer and as a UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) representative to the European Community Monitor Mission (ECMM) from 1992 to 2002 in the war-torn Former Yugoslavia where H.M. Queen Elizabeth II appointed him a Member of the British Empire (M.B.E.) for his services. With the ECMM, Geoff was the Deputy Head of several Regional Centres, including Hungary, Croatia, and of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). He was seconded to the International Conference on Former Yugoslavia (ICFY) Mission in Belgrade, the Mission responsible for enforcing Serbia’s sanctions on the Republika Srpska, as Chief of Staff under Lord Owen.
While with the UN, Geoff undertook several demanding roles, including Deputy Head of the UN Liaison Office (UNLO) in Belgrade, UNLO to the Republika Srpska government in Pale, and Coordinator of the BiH Border Service Department in Sarajevo where he was responsible for creating and deploying the Bosnian State Border Service, a 2,700 strong police force, the first multiethnic force to control the borders of BiH.
Geoff served 19 years in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. He is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (International Affairs & War Studies) and Belmont Abbey School, Hereford.
