Erroll Southers to Head our new Counter-Terrorism and Infrastructure Protection Division
Southers’ Homeland Security and public safety career spans three decades. Serving in executive positions in university, Homeland Security and public safety organizations at every level of government, he possesses a unique academic and operational methodology to counter-terrorism.
Erroll was the Presidential nominee for Assistant Secretary of the TSA and Governor Schwarzenegger’s Deputy Director in the California Office of Homeland Security. He is the Associate Director of the National Homeland Security Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE) at the University of Southern California (USC) where he developed the Executive Program in Counter-Terrorism and serves as an Adjunct Professor of Homeland Security and Public Policy.
As we all know, Chief Security Officers and Risk Management executives have already been looking for ways to address the growing set of challenges and demands in today’s risky and regulated world, and are looking to do so in a cost effective way. More About Erroll Southers:
Prior to joining TAL Global, Erroll served as the Chief of Homeland Security and Intelligence for the Los Angeles World Airports Police Department, the nation’s largest dedicated airport law enforcement agency. Southers began his law enforcement career with the Santa Monica Police Department, was appointed to the faculty and tactical staff of the Rio Hondo Police Academy and served as a member of FBI SWAT. He has testified as a subject matter expert before the full Congressional Committee on Homeland Security and lectures at the Joint Chiefs of Staff Anti-terrorism Seminars.
Southers earned his BA degree at Brown University and MPA at USC, where he is recognized as a counter-terrorism expert. He is a Senior Fellow of the UCLA School of Public Affairs and has lectured widely in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Israel, Hong Kong and China, where he was invited to assess the security for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In 2009, Security magazine recognized him as one of the nation’s Top 25 Industry Thought Leaders.
